ULTRASONIC WELDING PRINCIPLES

Ultrasonic welding, is a fast and cost-effective solution in the industry to come together the plastic parts without using any adhesives.

Ultrasonic welding technology is provided an economical solution and it is an environment friend technology. When ultrasonic technology is used, there will be no need for any fixtures or chemicals to stick the parts to each other. Sonikel Ultrasonics, creates turnkey automation solutions by using ultrasonic technology with required hardware and software.

Ultrasonic welding can be applied to all rigid thermoplastics, films and fabrics. In ultrasonic technology, a special sonotrode ( or can be called horn ) is used in the welding process to combine to parts. The geometry of the sonotrode depends on the product so each product has a different horn. Ultrasonic vibrations created by the vibration group of the ultrasonic welding system is 20 000 or 40 000 times per second. These vibrations melt the plastic and sticks to each other permanently. According to the vibration number, the system is called 20kHz or 40kHz. The ultrasonic welding system, consists of Ultrasonic Generator, Ultrasonic Convertor and sonotrode. The sonotrode is also called as horn. In order to fix the rigid thermoplastic part during welding, a fixture is used.

For getting a successful ultrasonic welding, the material of the thermoplastic part, the dimensions and the horn (or sonotrode) are very important from the design to the manufacturing. From this perspective, Sonikel Ultrasonics, takes the project from the beginning to the last point by careful design and scientific actions.
